About Rene Garcia MD

Rene Garcia, MD is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician with extensive clinical experience in both nephrology and hospital medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at The Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati, affiliated with the University of Cincinnati, followed by specialized fellowship training in Nephrology at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami.

Dr. Garcia’s nephrology training provided comprehensive experience in the evaluation and management of chronic kidney disease, hypertension, diabetic kidney disease, electrolyte and acid-base disorders, acute kidney injury, and advanced kidney disease. His training at a major academic and tertiary-care medical center also exposed him to patients with complex kidney disorders and multiple coexisting medical conditions.

In addition to his nephrology background, Dr. Garcia has more than a decade of experience as a hospitalist, caring for acutely ill and medically complex hospitalized patients. His hospital experience has included the management of acute kidney injury, cardiovascular disease, infections, diabetes, hypertensive emergencies, electrolyte abnormalities, and other acute illnesses that frequently contribute to or complicate chronic kidney disease.

This combination of specialized nephrology training and extensive inpatient Internal Medicine experience allows Dr. Garcia to approach chronic kidney disease from a comprehensive perspective, with particular attention to early recognition of kidney dysfunction, management of underlying risk factors, prevention of disease progression, and coordination of care for patients with multiple chronic medical conditions.
